The Realities of Fighting Breakouts: My Skincare Survival Guide

Let's face it, we all battle breakouts. And chyyylllle, if you say you don’t, you’re telling a BOLD-FACE LIE! Just like my mom used to say. Seriously though, breakouts can be tough on you, both mentally and emotionally. Our skin is a massive part of our confidence, and when it's screaming at us for love and attention, it can be a lot to handle.

But don't fret! I've got a simple skincare regimen to help you fight those unexpected breakouts and keep your skin looking fabulous.

Double Cleanse

Start with a double cleanse using Makei Beauty's "Goodness Grayshius" Cleanser followed by Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cleanser. When cleansing, resist the urge to over-stimulate areas with active breakouts. Overdoing it sends a message to your skin that it's okay to multiply those pesky cells causing the breakouts. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is key! For normal skin, once a week is perfect. If you have oily or combination skin, step it up to twice a week with a gentle exfoliant. My go-to is the Image Skincare Ageless Resurfacing Masque. It gently removes dead skin cells that trap bacteria, which causes breakouts and acne. Think of it as spring cleaning for your face!

Clay Mud Treatment Mask

Next up, the clay mud mask. This bad boy not only gently exfoliates but also pulls out all the toxins from your skin while minimizing those annoying enlarged pores. It’s like a mini detox session for your face.

Toner

After cleansing, exfoliating, and treating your skin, it’s crucial to restore its pH balance. I've been a loyal fan of Dermalogica toners for years, but lately, I've been broadening my horizons to include more budget-friendly options for my beauty loves. If you’re really on a budget, witch hazel is a solid choice.

Apply Serum

Now, serums are the MVPs of skincare. They’re highly concentrated and work quickly to treat your skin. Trust me, you’ll notice a difference in no time. I've been using Neutrogena Hydro Boost Night Serum, which pulls moisture from your environment and hydrates your skin while you sleep. It’s like a bedtime story for your face!

Seal with Moisturizer or Face Oil

Finally, seal in all that goodness with a moisturizer or face oil. I love using Makei Beauty Rose Serum Face Oil. It locks in moisture and gives your skin that dewy, fresh look. Plus, who doesn’t love the smell of roses?

So there you have it, my simple yet effective skincare regimen to fight those unexpected breakouts. Remember, your skin is calling for love and attention, so give it what it needs and watch it glow! And always remember, anyone who says they don’t get breakouts is telling a bold-face lie, just like my mama used to say
